Eva Muraya is the founder and CEO of Brand Strategy Design Limited (BDS), a marketing and communications consultancy firm offering branding, advertising and public relations services. She is also the co-founder of Color Creation Limited, the first advertising and branding business to be ISO 9001 certified in Kenya.
With more than two decades of experience in brand strategy, marketing and advertising, her passion in business sprouted from the tender age of 11, when she baked and sold pastries to raise her pocket money. Muraya chairs Zawadi Africa Education Fund, which provides scholarships to bright girls from disadvantaged backgrounds in Africa. She is also the Chairperson and co-founder of the Kenya Association of Women Business Owners (KAWBO) – a forum created to address challenges faced by women business owners and also to support the women to grow and excel. She has also served on the Vital Voices Africa Advisory Board, the Nairobi Women’s Hospital Board and the USIU Chandaria School of Business Advisory Board.
In 2006, the astute marketer was selected by the US State Department to represent Kenya in a premier US government-sponsored programme dubbed The Fortune/State Department International Women Leaders Mentoring Partnership. In 2013, she was also one of seven Kenyan leaders nominated to attend Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI), an African leadership programme. She has won numerous awards throughout her career in entrepreneurship. She was awarded by the Women Inspiration and Enterprise Africa as one of Africa’s top 60 most influential women, a co-recipient of the Goldman Sachs Global Leaders Award in 2008 and was also among 100 women nominated to receive The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) World of Difference 100 Award. She was also nominated for an award at the Pan African Invent and Innovate Conference in Ghana 2005.
Color Creation Limited was also the only top 10 finalist business out of 451 SMEs from East and Central Africa to be headed by a woman in the 2007 Pioneers of Business Award held in Rwanda. Muraya is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
