Catherine Kasavuli is the founder of Kasavuli Media Group Ltd, a finishing school for broadcasters to help refine their presentation skills. The company also offers etiquette classes to the general public.
Kasavuli was previously the Corporate Affairs Manager at Royal Media Services based in Nairobi, a post she took up after retiring from news anchoring in 2013. She was the first anchor to host a live broadcast on the fast growing company’s Citizen TV.
Born and raised in Nairobi West, she was once one of the most recognisable faces on television, having graced Kenyan screens as a news anchor for different television stations.
Kasavuli ventured into media in 1980 as a radio continuity announcer at Voice of Kenya (VOK), now known as the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
She was untrained and barely 18 years old at the time. She joined the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication two years into her job and then moved to enter the television arena in 1985.
The mother of one was part of the founding team that had the responsibility of launching the first privately-owned Kenya Television Network (KTN) in March 1990.
The alumna of Ngara Girls’ High School in Nairobi boasts an illustrious career in media spanning over three decades. Her clear diction and professionalism made her one of the most admired and sought-after anchors of her generation.
