Gilda Odera is a pioneer in the Internet service provision and business process outsourcing industry in Kenya, having founded and served as managing director of Skyweb-Evans and co-founder, owner and director of Skyweb Technologies.
Odera’s contribution to the industry has been recognised through various awards. She has won the Africa ICT Achievers’ Award, and two awards from the Computer Society of Kenya — Best Entrepreneur of the Year 2006 and Developing the Outsourcing Industry in Kenya 2007. She has also been the runner-up of the African Achievers Top ICT Business Woman 2005 award.
She is a member of the Organisation of Women in Trade and of the Rotary Club of Milimani where she has served as a Community Service Director and Club Secretary.
Odera has experience in marketing having worked as a commercial director for the Marketing Support Services at ICS Marketing Services.
Odera serves on the board of the Federation of Kenya Employees, the National Health Insurance Fund (Kenya), and the Public Procurement Review Board.
Over the years she has served in different capacities on various boards in the ICT and education sectors. She has been chairperson Board of Advisors at the Greenhorn Mentorship Program (University of Nairobi), Board Director of Telecommunications Services Providers of Kenya, chairperson of the Public Policy Board Computer Society of Kenya, Council Member in both the Marketing Society of Kenya and the Kirinyaga University College Kenya, and the vice chairperson of the ICT Sector Board and the Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
For three years Odera was the founding Chairperson of the Kenya BPO and Contact Centre Society.
She has a Master of Arts in Leading Innovation and Change from York St John University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Nairobi
