Judith Owigar is the founder and director of Adem Systems Ltd. and the co-founder and president of JuaKali, an online jobs site for skilled manual labourers.

She is also the president and co-founder of AkiraChix, an organisation created to change the perception of women in technology through training, mentorship and networking.

Owigar is a techpreneur and blogger who has won the Anita Borg Change Agent Award 2011 from the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, the US Embassy in Kenya Unsung Heroes award, the Best Female Engineer at the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers students’ exhibition in 2007, and the Top 40 under 40 women by the Business Daily newspaper in 2009 and 2012.

Owigar holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master’s in Applied Computing from the University of Nairobi
