Fulfilling the promise as per the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda: Housing in numbers

The Kenya Vision 2030 aims to transform housing in the country, specifically targeting improved living conditions for those residing in slums. The central goals are to produce significant numbers of housing units and enhance the lives of slum inhabitants. Metropolitan Development: Under the blueprint, there’s a comprehensive plan to prepare and implement strategic development and investment initiatives in six key metropolitan areas: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu-Kakamega, Nakuru-Eldoret, Wajir-Garissa-Mandera, and Kitui Mwingi-Meru. Each metropolitan area will have a tailored Spatial Plan. Moreover, unique development plans will be introduced for specific border towns and other municipalities. Among the flagship projects are strategic integrated physical development plans for five urban centres located along the LAPSSET (Lamu Port, Southern Sudan, and Ethiopia Transport) Corridor. There is also an emphasis on fully operationalizing the metropolitan regions mentioned above. Planning Standards: The vision emphasizes the formulation and implementation of strict planning standards and guidelines to ensure urban development proceeds harmoniously and sustainably.
